IN THE PINK FOR BREAST CANCER CHARITY
When Caroline Monk’s hair grew back after chemotherapy, she
had it coloured pink, using Herbatint products.
|
This
was Caroline’s opportunity to support the "inthePINK" breast cancer
awareness campaign for the Pink Ribbon Foundation (PRF), a
grant-making trust supporting many UK breast cancer charities that
apply annually for funding. |

Caroline hit the news when her
partner, tv presenter Matthew Wright, supportively shaved his
head after her chemotherapy caused her to lose her hair. She says:
“I was bald for six months during my chemotherapy and hated wearing
wigs. When my hair grew back it was baby fine so my friend Kate
Chubb at the PRF thought I should dye it with as gentle a hair dye
as possible and introduced me to Herbatint," says Caroline.
“One of the most important aspects of a woman’s appearance is her
hair, so one of the really depressing things about cancer
treatment is losing it. When women come out of chemotherapy, they
are afraid to put anything on their hair, and older women worry
about being grey. They don’t realise that they can still have
glossy, coloured hair if they use the right kind of dye."
|
Herbatint uses natural extracts and is formulated without ammonia,
paraben preservatives or resorcinol, and with only the minimum of
peroxide, the dyes have been developed to offer less aggressive, more
natural alternative hair colouring, including for grey hair.
“Every year our advice line staff talk to many women who are looking
for a gentler way of colouring their hair after chemotherapy,” says
Herbatint's Paul Williams. “Ideally they should keep their natural
colour, but pretty well all of them insist they want to avoid appearing
with white or grey hair …Herbatint features extracts of aloe vera,
meadow foam and witch hazel to condition the hair and scalp.”
“I had wanted to have pink hair for absolutely years and now I had
the perfect excuse!" adds Caroline Monk. I’ve never been happier than I
am now with my pink hair!”
Herbal-based hair colour brand Herbatint is making a donation from
every retail pack sold until the end of December to breast cancer
charity the Pink Ribbon Foundation, and sponsoring the foundation’s
annual awareness and fund-raising magazine "inthePINK".
Herbatint is available in 30 shades. Retail packs cost £7.99rrp from
leading pharmacies and health stores – 10p per pack goes to the Pink
Ribbon Foundation. For more information or to order on-line, visit
